A full Tummy and a grateful Heart

Thanksgiving this year was great.  I went into it thinking it would be tough on the whole family, but when we got together the laughs started pouringout.  This year we were a family divided, by geography that is.  My family and my mother joined The woodand Houseman families in Paducah.  Whitney and Stephen Could not make the trip so they stayed with other friends and family in Austin and McKinney.  The food was great, the adventure of staying my Sister under construction house was a blast.  It may have been because there were 6 kids runningaround a 100 year old farm house all day long.  We had a bonfire on Kari’s land, we played Dr. Mario (the video game), and we went to Flamingo Row (only the best restaurant i have been to in Kentucky.)

But the highlight in my mind was when My sister Kijsa gave a short testimony at Her Church on Tuesday Night.  She was asked to say what she was thankful for. In a year that has really rock the foundation of all of the Presley’s, she was able to summarize the greatest both of our families resolve, but also the passion and soul of my Father.  This thanksgiving what am i thankful for – My family.  This year has been one of the most challenging yet, most rewarding of my life.  My loving wife gave me a son, and i lost a father.  Yet through it all i know through it all my family has helped to encourage and lift up not only my faith, but the faith of our entire clan.  So i would like to say a special thank you to Melissa, Champe, Eli, Kari, Denny, Denton, Zachary, Whitney, Westleigh, Kijsa, Brad, Talia, Keaton, Whitney, Stephen, Haley, Isla, and the matriarch My mom.

You can download Kijsa’s talk here  it is worth the read….

    Dear Mark,
Thank you so much for sharing Kijsa’s comments. What an incredible testimoney to Mark and the impact of his life. I thought about you and your family during the Thanksgiving weekend and said a prayer for you. I remember all those “first” as you move though the first year without that precious family member. Thanksgiving weekend was also the 2nd anniversary of the death of my brother and we were remembering happy times with him. Your Dad will never be forgotten and I will always be grateful to God for the presence of Mark in my life.
    God Bless each of you,
    Melba Jeffus

You don’t know me but I just had to say thank you for sharing Kijsa’s words – what a powerful testimony. My Dad went Home 5 yrs. ago and my husband 4 yrs. ago so your words are very meaningful to me. (I came over from Kijsa’s site)May God’s peace be yours and your family’s as you move through these days of Christmas.

We are thinking and praying for your family as you go through these ‘firsts’ without your dad. May you experience peace and joy as you go on toward Christmas.

  4. Mark I came to visit after read your sister’s site on your Christmas gift to them. I also read Kijsa’s beautiful written testimony to her church. Your family has been so blessed to have this wonderful Christian leader and his life lives on through each of you. I pray that the coming year will bring comfort and joy in ways only God can bring to each of your family members. You know that thousands are praying for your family and their comfort.
I wanted to comment on your contribution at Christmas and what an impact it made on your family. The tree trunk WoW!! You are following in his footsteps and you are caring on his legacy through your life and example. God bless you and your family on the journey ahead, but from what I have seen through your written words (blog) and your sisters you are going to be the “one” May God richly bless you and keep you.
    God bless

    Dear Mark,
I look forward to coming to this website and checking for updates from you. This holiday season has been a difficult one without your father. I remember the tradition of the office staff going out for Christmas lunch and good conversation and company. I was going through some CD’s today and found one that you might want to have. Please email me so I can get it to you.
    Love,
    Cathy

    Dearest Mark,

I have again returned to your website as I followed your link from the FBC website. It was a lovely find this day after Good Friday and the day before Easter 2009. I went to the FBC website to learn how I could join you and the family in McKinney for Easter service via webcast. Please know Karen and I will be with you all in prayer tomorrow morning. Thank you for sharing Kijs’a testimony with the world. She has shown repeatedly she is bright, beautiful, artistly talented, and eloquent in her words and love of Christ. Her words were profound and powerful. Your father was truly a great, quiet, and gentle human being and it has always been an honor to know him as I did. It is wondeful how your father’s love for Christ has touched so many in such a deep and meaningful way. Please continue with you blogging for it reaches a multitude. May God continue to bless you and all the family this Easter season. Christ is King. This is sent with all my love, Uncle Steven.
